What level of critical illness cover will my children get?

Your children will not get the same level of cover as you do - and your insurance company will set a maximum limit on any claim under the policy’s provisions for children's claims. It could be that the limit is set as a percentage of your own sum assured (e.g. 25% or 50%) or alternatively they will set an amount (e.g. £15,000 or £20,000).
