Every insurance company has its own rules relating to how much (or little) they will insure you for. When you ask for a quotation, you will be advised immediately if your request does not fit in with their guidelines. So there's no need to worry on this issue.

However, in answer to the question - yes, insurance companies do have minimum and maximum sums they will insure for, and the maximum you can reasonably expect to be insured for is usually around £500,000.
