Whether the insurance was bought through an insurance broker or not, the claim needs to be made directly to the Insurer who issued the policy. Along with the policy documents there will be a booklet containing information about how to claim.

If a claim arises and you or your family cannot find the advice booklet, then telephone the insurance company and they will talk you through the process. If you can't find the policy they can send you out new documents. If you don't know who the policy is held with then contact the bank to see what company the monthly premiums are paid to.

To make the claim you need to follow the steps below - if you have all the information to hand then you can expect a speedy payout:

  • Find the policy document and keep a record of the policy number
  • Telephone the insurance company to request a claim form.
  • Fill out and return the claim form accompanied by the policy document and other required documentation
  • Use Recorded Delivery
