How many letters you receive will relate to the number of complications that arise
from your Application.
Sometimes your insurance can be finalised with no more than the receipt of the policy
documents and a direct debt form.
You might get just one of the letters detailed below, or maybe four or five!
All letters require a speedy reply:
- If your Application was completed over the phone, you will be sent a document detailing
the answers you provided. You need to check the details carefully, and sign and return
the document. At this point they may also ask your permission to contact your Doctor
for information about your medical history and current health. You need to reply
to continue with the Application process.
- If your monthly premium is over £50 then UK Law requires you to provide proof
of your identity. The letter will explain what documents they need to receive - and
you must send the correct documents for your application to proceed.
- You must return your Direct Debit form to sign and return - without this they won't
be able to instruct the bank to allow the monthly payments.
The letters described above are the common letters most people will deal with. Here
are some examples of others:
- A letter asking for more information about your health, what your occupation involves,
and any dangerous hobbies or pastimes.
- A letter asking for more information relating to an answer you provided on your
Application or a question that you accidentally missed.
- A letter asking you to visit your GP or an assigned Doctor for a medical.
- A letter informing you that the insurance company cannot offer you insurance at
the original quoted price. This means that your policy has been 'Rated'. To progress
the application you'll need to sign and return a form confirming your acceptance.
