With all insurance policies there will be a list of exclusions.
We have summarised the typical exclusions below, although we advise that
you check your insurance documents carefully when they arrive.
Some typical reasons why a claim may be refused: -
- You knew that you were likely to be made unemployed when you took
out the insurance
- You left your job by choice
- You have a casual, temporary or seasonal job
- You are employed by a Temporary Employment Agency
- Your job involves regular Unemployment
- You were dismissed for misconduct
- You were already suffering from the illness or condition which caused
your absence from work when you took out the insurance
- You are off work because of alcohol or non-prescribed drug abuse
- You are off work because of self inflicted injuries
- You are off work because you failed to follow medical advice
- You are off work due to war or rioting
