Can I still get a mortgage even if I have no proof of income?

If you have income but no formal or acceptable way of substantiating it, you will need a self certified mortgage. This requires you to make a formal statement about your income and the mortgage lender will take you at your word – but you will find that you may be expected to contribute a substantial deposit towards the purchase of your house and they will charge you a higher than average rate of interest.

This circumstances often apply to self-employed people who have less than three years trading accounts or overseas income etc.
