No, you don't need to calculate the rebuilding cost yourself. When you apply for your mortgage the lenders’ Valuer will inspect the property and calculate how much rebuilding insurance cover you need.

If for any reason you think that the Valuers estimate is wrong, then you can query it. In any case if you want to insure for more then that’s up to you.
